Genesis 1:1 ~ ancient/paleo Hebrew meanings of Each Letter or Each Word.

~ scriptures are from the Hebraic Roots Bible.

In Hebrew, the first sentence in the Bible is comprised of seven words.
Within those seven words, the ancient Hebrew pictographs tell the story of the entire Bible.
The seven words needed to depict the entire Bible parallel the seven days needed for creation.

  • The first three words are all about Yahshua: as Messiah, as Creator, and as the Shepherd.
  • Then the is the untranslateable word,
  • and the last three words contain all of YAHWEH's covenants, old and new.

The first sentence of the Bible is most frequently translated,
Gen 1:1 "In the beginning Elohim created the heavens and the earth."

The first word in the Bible is the Hebrew word "Barasheet", most frequently translated, "In the beginning...".

The Hebrew word "barasheet" is comprised of the Hebrew letters

  • BET (B) pictured as a House or Tent, and meaning house, as in "the house of David".
  • RESH (R) pictured as a man's head, meaning the first or highest person.
  • ALEPH (A) pictured as an ox head, meaning God and/or strength, as in the Lord is my strength.
  • SHIN (Sh) pictured as two teeth, meaning to consume or destroy.
  • YOD (Y) pictured as an arm from the fist to the elbow, meaning my hand/efforts.
  • TAV (T) pictured as two crossed sticks, meaning a mark or covenant.

Thus, "In the beginning...", YHWH reveals that the SON of YAHWEH will be DESTROYED with his HANDS on a CROSS.
~ (the Hebrew letters BET and RESH form the Hebrew/Aramaic word "bar", or Son)

1Pet 1:19-20 but with the precious blood of Messiah, as a lamb without blemish and without spot, indeed having been preordained for this very purpose before the foundation of the world, but revealed in the last times because of you,

The second word in the Bible is the Hebrew word "Bara",
Now let's look at the word "created". In the Hebrew sentence structure, "created" is actually the second word in the Bible.
It would more literally be translated, "In the beginning created Elohim the heavens and the earth."

The word translated as "created" is the Hebrew word bara, from the same root as barasheet ("In the beginning") and barak ("bless", see YAHWEH's Blessing).

  • BET (B) pictured as a house or a tent, and meaning house/lineage),
  • RESH (R) pictured as a man's head, meaning the first or highest person ,
  • ALEPH (A) pictured as an ox head, meaning strength or Elohim).

note: the Hebrew/Aramaic word bar (spelled BET RESH) is the word for "son".
So, bara ("created", more literally "to create") is actually depicted as the SON of YAHWEH.

1Cor 8:6 but to us there is one El, the Father, of whom are all things, and we for Him,
and one Master YAHWEH, Yahshua Messiah, through whom are all things, and we by Him.

The third word in the Bible is the Hebrew word "Elohim".
What do the ancient Hebrew pictographs reveal about the name Elohim:

  • ALEPH (A) pictured as an ox head, and it signifies strength, or Elohim.
  • LAMED (L) pictured as a shepherd's staff, meaning to shepherd or lead.
  • HEY (H) pictured as a man with outstretched or open arms, meaning YAHWEH's to behold.
  • YOD (Y) pictured as the arm from the fist to the elbow, meaning my hand or works.
  • MEM (M) pictured as waves of water, meaning waters or peoples/nations.

In other words, the Master is my SHEPHERD by his GRACE he provides for MY needs (I SHALL NOT WANT),
he takes me by MY HAND and LEADS me by still WATERS.

Psa 23:1-2 A Psalm of David. YAHWEH is my shepherd; I shall not lack. He makes me lie down in green pastures; He leads me to waters of rest;

Right in the middle is an untranslated word את H853.
It is untranslatable because it is not a word at all. - It is simply the ALEPH and the TAV.

Gen 1:1 בראשׁיתH7225 בראH1254 אלהיםH430 אתH853 השׁמיםH8064 ואתH853 הארץ׃H776

Its to this ALEPH and TAV that Yahshua was referring. Just as the book of Revelation begins and ends with Yahshua saying,
"I am the Alpha and the Omega," so too does the Bible.

  • ALEPH (A) pictured as an ox head, and it signifies strength, or Elohim.
  • TAV (T) pictured as two crossed sticks, meaning a mark or covenant.

Therefore, when Yahshua says, "I am the Aleph and the Tav,"
what He is saying is that He is the MARK of YAHWEH, or YAHWEH's signature.

When YAHWEH has Moses write the Aleph and the Tav into Genesis 1:1, what YAHWEH is saying is,
"You see, this Yahshua, He is the Messiah who is going to die on the cross for your salvation, He is the creator who was in the beginning, He is the shepherd prophesied about in the Old Testament. He is My Word, He is My Covenant, He is My Signature."

The last three words of Genesis 1:1 in Hebrew contain all of YAHWEH's covenants.

The fifth Hebrew word "hashshamayim" and is translated as "the heavens".
"The heavens" is comprised of the Hebrew letters:

  • HEY (H) pictured as a man standing with open arms, and meaning grace or to behold.
  • SHIN (Sh) pictured as two teeth, and meaning to consume or destroy.
  • MEM (M) pictured as waves of water, and meaning waters or peoples or nations.
  • YOD (Y) pictured as the arm from the fist to the elbow, meaning my hand or works.
  • MEM (M) pictured as waves of water, and meaning waters or peoples or nations.

The word mayim (spelled in Hebrew MEM YOD MEM) is the Hebrew word for water.
Therefore, we see in "the heavens" BEHOLD (HEY), DESTRUCTION (SHIN) by WATER (MEM YOD MEM).
More specifically: BEHOLD, the WORKS (deeds) of your HAND will be CONSUMED/DESTROYED by WATER.

The sixth Hebrew word v'at is translated "and"
is comprised of the Hebrew letters VAV, ALEPH, and TAV.

  • VAV (V,W) was pictured as a tent peg, hook or a nail.
Specifically, the VAV was the tent peg or hook that held the curtains of the tabernacle of Moses together.
The symbolic meaning of the VAV was to bind together or hook, and represented the connection between heaven and earth.
  • ALEPH (A) pictured as an ox head, and it signifies strength, or Elohim.
  • TAV (T) pictured as two crossed sticks, meaning a mark or covenant.

Interestingly, the VAV in v'at (and) is the first VAV in the Bible and connects "the heavens" and "the earth" as is symbolized by VAV.

  • "The heavens" symbolically represent YAHWEH's Old Testament Covenants.
  • "The earth" symbolically represents YAHWEH's New Covenant in Yahshua Messiah.
  • The "and" reveals this relationship. The NAIL or VAV is GOD'S COVENANT.
  • The "and" also is a reassurance that YAHWEH is BOUND by His COVENANTS.
Without this reassurance, what is revealed in "the earth" would be meaningless.

The last word in Genesis 1:1 is the Hebrew word "Haarets" and translated "earth."
"The earth" is comprised of the Hebrew letters HEY, ALEPH, RESH and TSADE.

  • HEY (H) pictured as a man standing with open arms, and meaning grace or to behold.
HEY is also representative of YAHWEH's gift or grace.
  • ALEPH (A) pictured as an ox head, and it signifies strength, or Elohim.
  • RESH (R) pictured as a man's head, meaning the first or highest person ,
  • TSADE (Ts) pictured as a man lying on his side or bent at the knees, or pictured as a fish hook.
The symbolic meaning of the letter TSADE was to hunt or fish.

Therefore, YAHWEH's COVENANT by which He is BOUND is the GRACE or GIFT of YAHWEH which is His FIRST BORN.

Joh 3:16-18 For YAHWEH so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that everyone believing into Him should not perish, but have everlasting life†.
For YAHWEH did not send His Son into the world that He might condemn the world, but that the world might have life through Him.
The one believing into Him is not condemned; but the one not believing has already been condemned, for he has not believed into the name of the only begotten Son of YAHWEH†.
